Responsibilities
- Performance & bottleneck tracking: Monitor company KPIs, identify operational risks early, and deploy targeted interventions to solve root causes.
- Operational scaling: Design, implement, and optimize scalable systems, metrics, and workflows to support company growth. For example:
- Special projects leadership: Lead high-priority strategic experiments, expansions, or turnarounds from inception to handoff.
- Cross-functional alignment: Break down functional silos and facilitate collaboration across teams to eliminate friction and speed up decision-making.
- Fill some of the responsibilities of Chief of Staff role until someone permanent is set (too early).
- Directly support the CEO to offload executive tasks.
Key performance indicators
- Company health & performance indicators: Measurable progress toward high-level company targets (e.g., revenue growth per employee, gross margin improvement, operational cost efficiency).
- Strategic execution velocity: Percentage of strategic initiatives and OKRs delivered at the quality bar, on time, and within scope across departments.
- Operational efficiency & bottleneck resolution: Resolve the hardest high-priority cross-functional blockers and make quantifiable improvements in workflow lead times.
- System scalability & adoption: Level of team adoption and compliance with primary operating cadences (weekly, quarterly, annual planning systems and decision documentation).
- Special project handoff success: On-time transition of incubated initiatives to permanent department leads without operational loss or downtime.
Interaction with other roles
- Executive leadership team:
- Acts as a strategic advisor and operational partner to engineering, product, sales, marketing, people, and finance leads.
- Works directly alongside functional leaders to break down silos, align company scorecards, and resolve cross-functional friction.
